KSDA

Shenandoah, IA is where I went to high school. My wife and I had of course been to Shenandoah many times. However, we had never flown there. While attending high school there, one place that I did enjoy going to was The Depot. This resteraunt had a lot of history…and fires. I wish I was kidding, the place has burned down like 3 times (sort of like the castle in the swamp in Monty Python). So we figured we would fly down to Shenandoah, pick up a $100 hamburger at The Depot and then fly back. Only one issue came up. On landing at KSDA, the front hydraulic for the nose wheel failed. There is a mechanical stop that prevents the aircraft from doing a prop strike, but it is still a bit unnerving to have it happen. We ended up getting our burger and then flew back to KAMW. We basically did a soft field landing once we got back to KAMW.
